A company created by Kyle Bach, a 1998 graduate of 

Washington High School, has been named by the Indianapolis 

Business Journal as the fastest growing private company in 
central Indiana.


Bach started Annex Student Living in 2009 in Indianapolis 

to build student housing on campuses that usually have not 

offered housing. The IBJ said Bach’s company grew 280 

percent from 2014 to 2016.


Bach did not start out with a goal of becoming a developer.
In fact, his 2002 degree from IU Bloomington was in kinesiology, 

the study of human movement. His goal was to be a physical 

therapist.


But he got a job with a company that was developing affordable 

housing, and his goals changed. In 2006, he branched out on 
his own. He was working on a project in Galesburg, Ill., when 

he was approached by a college of cial there who asked if he 

had ever considered student housing. He ended up building 114 as preparation for life. At WHS, he participated in football, 

units there.baseball and wrestling, which helped build a spirit of teamwork 
in him.
Since then he has branched out around the Midwest. His 

projects include The Annex apartments on Northside Boulevard His favorite coach was Rick Tomaszewski, who coached baseball.
