2013 Faegre Baker Daniels law firm
Since its founding as Parker & Jaicomo in 1986, the South Bend office of Faegre Baker Daniels has been an active contributing corporate citizen in northern Indiana. Though the lawn firm’s name has changed, its commitment to quality education in South Bend has remained steadfast. FaegreBD serves as legal counsel for the South Bend Community School Corp., John Glenn School Corp., School City of Mishawaka, Penn-Harris-Madison and a number of other educational institutions which rely on the firm for sound legal advice. The firm is a patron of the South Bend Education Foundation, and Rich Hill, a firm’s partner, serves on the foundation’s board. FaegreBD professionals and staff are active participants in the SBCSC’s Read to a Child and mentoring programs, encouraging literacy and life skills development in South Bend students. The firm has been a close partner with Perley Primary Center – organizing hat, glove and school supply drives that benefit low income families. FaegreBD also sponsors a school art contest.
2012 1st Source Bank
Founded in 1863, 1st Source Bank has a history of giving back to the community to help create a good place to live and raise families. In 2011, it donated almost $1 million to support education; social welfare and human services efforts; the arts; and other community programs. Of that amount, almost 40 percent was directed to education, including $102,000 for the New Tech High School, $20,000 for the Public Education Foundation and funds for the South Bend school corporation’s Spelling Bee. 1st Source has consistently been named the favorite bank by readers of The South Bend Tribune and other area newspapers. It operates 75 banking centers in 17 counties, along with 23 1st Source Specialty Finance Group locations nationwide. It also has nine Trust and Wealth Management locations and nine 1st Source Insurance offices. In 2011, 1st Source was recognized as the No. 1 provider of SBA Patriot Express Loans in Indiana.
