Washington Social Media Club

The SBAA helped the Washington High School Social Media Club purchase a new high quality camera lens to take better pictures in low lighting situations like night football games and basketball gyms. The students in the club learn basic photography elements for taking sports pictures and portraits, as well as the basics of social media graphic design to create school social media posts.

“I am very thankful to have received a grant from the South Bend Alumni Association. Our social media club was in need of a good lens to get better quality pictures and we used our grant to purchase a Tamron 70-200 mm 2.8 lens. The students love the look and quality of the shots we are getting out of it, especially in low light situations, which was very difficult with our older lens. The impact was tremendous, last year we had about 10 steady students as part of the social media group, this year 70 signed up. Something so simple as purchasing a nice lens made the quality of our pictures better, students see it, parents see it and community members see it. Thank you South Bend Alumni Association!“
