In 2018, Anna Jurgonski won the SBAA’s Jack Champaigne Scholarship to attend Purdue University. She is a graduate of Clay High School and will receive a $5,000 scholarship annually throughout her four years at Purdue. Ms. Jurgonski sent the SBAA an email updating us on what she has been up to these last two years. We are so proud of the work she has accomplished!
“My activity is participating with a research group on campus. During the school year I participated in undergraduate research with the Sintim Lab. I would spend 9-12 hours a week assisting graduate students with their projects. The project I helped with the most was research on a leukemia treatment. My role was to help run reactions to test new compounds and to purify them after the reaction was complete. Helping with this project taught me the importance of teamwork and allowed me to practically use the knowledge from my coursework.
Sadly, I do not have any pictures of myself in the lab, but I do have a picture of the purification process.”
Way to go, Anna!
