Happy New Year, 2021!
Dear Friends of the South Bend Alumni Association,
Carrie Ann Taylor here. I am the Administrative Assistant for The South Bend Alumni Association. I work behind the scenes with our Executive Director, Susie Brennan! Susie is currently on maternity leave so she asked me to share some welcoming thoughts with you as we enter this hope-FULL and joy-FULL new year together!
If you’re like me, there are many aspects of 2020 that I am very grateful are behind us. But as I look back on 2020, The South Bend Alumni Association had the opportunity to assist so many students because of you! And that’s AMAZING!
One such group of students was the Madison STEAM Academy’s Lacrosse program. The South Bend Alumni Association awarded a Co-Ex grant to the lacrosse team to purchase t-shirts for each of their participants. As you will see in the photos, the students proudly displayed their t-shirts, and Ms. Linda Walsh even shared some photos of students practicing their lacrosse skills! We absolutely LOVE seeing (and sharing!) the fantastic work happening in the schools by the students, after school program leaders, teachers, coaches, and principals.
The South Bend Alumni Association, with your help, continued to work tirelessly to support our students and our schools. In 2020, we awarded 25 grants for a total of $37,465. Since 2014, we have made 231 Co-Ex Grants totaling $326,885! We award money for sports uniforms and equipment, band instruments and sheet music, competition fees, academic clubs, and so much more.
For 2021, we are looking forward to another successful year. We hope that you join us for our Scholarship Golf outing this summer and our 34th annual Hall of Fame Dinner. But more importantly, we hope that you stay connected to the South Bend Alumni Association and continue to support our mission and our schools.
