SBAA February 2021 Newsletter

Welcome to the Month of Love….hearts and chocolate and lots of candy…and exorbitant amounts of money spent on telling folks how much we love them. But you know what? We have that amazing opportunity every single day, no matter the day or month, and it doesn’t cost a penny! We can simply send a note, pick up the phone, type an email or text, and so easily express our gratitude for their very presence in our lives. Showing appreciation is one of the simplest ways to express love to one another. So, that’s what we’re going to do right now!

sbaa february 2021 newsletterIn October of last year, The South Bend Alumni Association’s Co-Ex Grant Committee awarded a grant to the John Adams High School Show Choir, to purchase needed attire for new members.

When grants are awarded by the Co-Ex Grant Committee, the students are required to complete a community service project. The Adams High School Show Choir, directed by Vocal Music Teacher Heather Ducharme, completed not one, but TWO projects! So, we wanted to show some love to them by sharing about their great work in giving back to the greater South Bend community.

In the first project, the Adams Show Choir adopted three John Adams families for the holidays. Each family received gifts for every family member as well as a full holiday breakfast and dinner. (The Counseling Office delivered the baskets so the families could remain anonymous.)

In the second project, students collected items for the children’s ward of our local hospital. Students in all four sections of the choir donated various items for the children’s ward.

KUDOS to the great work the students are doing over at Adams and around our community!! They are showing their LOVE for their community through their service projects and gifts of music. Let this be an inspiration to us all!
