SBAA November 2021 Newsletter

“When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.”

— Willie Nelson

It’s finally Thanksgiving season. You remember Thanksgiving, right? The holiday sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas?

But Thanksgiving is more than just another day on the calendar, on our way to Christmas. It’s not just a day to eat a lot of delicious food, watch football, or head out to the stores to snag the hottest deals before everyone else can.

Thanksgiving is a season. It’s a state of mind. It’s a lifestyle. What is the essence of thanksgiving?

Gratitude and generosity — the core of Thanksgiving and the beginning of a new dream.

Gratitude — noun — the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness; the state of being grateful; from Latin grātus, pleasing.

It culminates on one day at the end of November. It is good for us to put thought and effort into the causes, people, organizations and ways in which we have received blessings in our lives. Giving Tuesday is November 20, 2021. What an incredible way to show our gratitude by giving to the South Bend Alumni Association in support of our mission to provide for students in South Bend Schools through Co-Ex Grants and Scholarships.

Are you a student, parent, teacher, coach, counselor or school administrator? Have you been impacted by the work of the SBAA in some way: maybe through receiving a Co-Ex Grant, a scholarship, attending or volunteering at an SBAA event, etc.? If your answer is yes, we would love to hear from you! Send us your story about what the South Bend Alumni Association means to you, WHAT you’re thankful for, and include any photos if you have them. Send your stories to sbaa@sbcsc.k12.in.us

We are so grateful for all of you! You inspire us each day. Watch the video below to see why we do what we do every day, and why we are so very grateful for our community partners who help us reach our goals to impact more students.

What are YOU thankful for?

Think about it….and then share! Let’s make the most of this thanksgiving season and all those to come.
