“Heart to heart and hand in hand,” the embodiment of how and why we do what we do at the South Bend Alumni Association. The spirit of Christmas and the mission of SBAA go together remarkably well. Giving. With a purpose.
Throughout the year, the SBAA works to ensure that we are positively impacting the greatest number of students in South Bend Community Schools. Determined. Focused. Dedicated. Energized. Committed. Because of our community partnerships and generous donors, the SBAA is able to continue supporting the students of South Bend.
In 2021 alone, the South Bend Alumni Association’s Co-Ex Grant Committee approved 21 grants at 8 schools (plus the summer athletic program) totaling $32,366. These grants are available to all extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Are you a coach, counselor, leader or administrator? Have you applied for a grant? No?
For December, the Co-Ex Committee approved two grants — because just TWO applications were submitted for consideration. There is money available, and all schools need to do is apply!
The students then give back to the community through service projects such as the John Adams High School Cross Country teams volunteering this summer at Art Beat in downtown South Bend, pictured below.
