Executive Director Search for The South Bend Alumni Association

The South Bend Alumni Association (SBAA) Executive Director is responsible for providing administrative direction and coordination of our mission to support education in our schools by funding extra and co-curricular activities and instilling an awareness of the need for student service in the community.
The Board of Trustees (Board) delegates responsibility for management and day-to-day operations to the Executive Director, and s/he has the authority to carry out these responsibilities, in accordance with the direction and policies established by the Board. The Executive Director provides direction to the Board as it carries out its governance functions.
Minimum qualifications:
- Must have obtained a bachelor’s degree
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in nonprofit work, fundraising or related field
- Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to have flexible working hours.
Fundraising and Development:
- Public speaking & strong presentation skills to increase mission awareness
- Attend community activities to enhance SBAA’s community profile
- Act as the face of the organization
- Passion for meeting new people & community engagement
- Communications/Marketing
- Creates content for monthly digital newsletter
- Assists in the creation of promotional materials regarding the SBAA, such as PowerPoint presentations, flyers, social media content, etc.
- Develop and maintain a strong donor base for both monetary and non-monetary resources
- Strategic planning regarding ongoing donor stewardship/engagement
- Develop working partnerships with community, business, industry, and other educational organizations to promote & support the SBAA
- Looks for and writes grants on behalf of SBAA
Leadership & Management:
- Board Management
- Communicates with the Board, tracks attendance, takes minutes at meetings, and creates the agenda
- Engages with external committee members
- Assists in the recruitment of new board members and leads the orientation process
- Keeper of the vision, mission, and strategic plan
- Attends and provides support at all committee meetings: Co-Ex, Scholarship, Development, Hall of Fame, Golf, Marketing, Governance, and Hiring
- Finances
- Participates in the planning and preparation of the SBAA budget
- Tracks deposits, makes payments, and coordinates accounting with external accounting firm
- Recruits and supervises any interns, contracted services, and/or part time staff
- Overseas and executes primary fundraising events
- Hall of Fame Dinner
- Annual Golf Outing
- Planned Day of Giving to support existing endowment
