December 2023 Newsletter

As we reflect on the incredible achievements of the South Bend Alumni Association this past year, we are immensely grateful for the support of alumni, friends, and community supporters like you. With your continued generosity, we have been able to fund 45 Co-Grants at 15 SBCSC schools, totaling $91,218 in grants for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. We have also had the privilege of selecting three exceptional scholarship recipients from a pool of talented South Bend graduates.

But our work doesn’t stop there. Throughout the year, we have partnered with other community organizations to sponsor inspiring events involving SBCSC students, such as the South Bend Empowerment Zone’s celebration of Black History Month, the South Bend Civic Theater’s production of ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, and the South Bend community celebration of Dia de los Muertos at the Morris. We have also welcomed a new class to the South Bend Community Hall of Fame, honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to our community.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering dedication of our sponsors, board and committee members, volunteers, and donors like you. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of our youth and allows them to grow and excel. Thank you!

Co-Ex Grant Spotlight

 Adams Cross

Country Team

The John Adams High School Cross Country team was selected for a Co-Ex Grant to replace their 6-year old singlets and buy uniform bags for the team.

Their service project was to help with Art Beat in downtown South Bend. The students helped tear down tables and tents, pick up trash, throw away trash bins, empty water barrels, stack benches, tables, chairs, and take down fences and stack them. The coaches and students enjoyed their time working together and giving back to our community.
