“I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.
I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live.”
– George Bernard Shaw
29th Annual TCU/SBAA Superintendent’s Golf Tournament
The 2022 Teachers Credit Union (TCU) / SBAA Superintendent’s Golf Outing is officially in the books!
HUGE ⭐️THANK YOU⭐️ to all of our sponsors this year — we are so grateful for your continued support of SBAA — but more importantly, the students of South Bend Community School Corporation!
All proceeds from the tournament will help fund the Co-Ex Grant and Scholarship programs. This year, we raised over $21,000!
Introducing: New SBAA Executive Director
In May, the SBAA welcomed our new Executive Director, Kris Arizmendi Choinacky!
Kris is no stranger to South Bend, born and raised here. She is an alumna of Washington High School, PRIDE OF THE WEST SIDE!
Kris continued her undergraduate education at Holy Cross College and University of Indianapolis and holds a Masters of Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame. Kris has over 15 years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector, plus years of community engagement and volunteer work.
Kris has a deep passion for the South Bend community through her advocacy and involvement with local boards and committees. “I’m excited for this new opportunity to work closely with South Bend Community School Corporation. South Bend Alumni Association’s mission aligns with my beliefs that we all have talents to give back and get involved in your community. I look forward to working closely with administration, teachers, coaches, parents and students to continue co-curricular and extracurricular activities in our schools.”
Julio Cruz, current SBAA Board of Trustees member shared, “Representation matters! And, as we move forward, we needed to bring someone that can help SBAA close a few gaps, and who has a strategic not-for-profit-business mindset. She has the three C’s of a good leader: She is Competent, she can Connect and she has Character. I am excited to see her lead SBAA.”
Please join us in welcoming Kris!!

Create an Account to Stay Up-to-Date on Your High School Classmates & Reunions
“The South Bend Alumni Association high school websites will be seven years old in July 2022. The seven public schools have over 101,800 classmate names and senior photos posted, with more being added each day.
The goal is to provide means for all classmates to connect individually with private or public postings as well as collectively by announcing reunions and related activities including posting upcoming classmate birthdays as well as obituaries.
An important aspect of classmate profiles is the recording of high school memories and later life in college, travels, military service, employment, marriage and children etc. These stories are very important to your fellow classmates, your family and future generations. Give some thought to review your story and update it. Your grandchildren will be very happy to read them.
You can leave comments in the “In Memory” section for a classmate, however, they will not be reading it. You may want to send the message now while you are both “above ground”. It’s like sending a smile electronically. They may be waiting for a hug or your good news.
We depend on yearbooks donated to scan and store in our reference libraries. All South Bend Schools for all years. Also, hundreds of our school newspapers have been scanned and searchable. Please donate any that you may find.”
